I live in an area rich in history - most of it covered by the sands of "progress".
Spending so much time in close contact with nature opens your eyes to the true Essence of Life
and allows you to find beauty not only in the soft green brought on by infrequent rain, but also
in the stark black of a little bush withered by the drought.
I use art as another language to express my appreciation of that which I experience and see around me.
I really enjoy doing portraits of Bushmen and try to capture their rock-art, as it was not long ago a
place where they, as their forefathers, could breath freely.
I call their rock art 'letters from the past' because they are precious remnants of an ancient way
of life. These rock paintings portray all facets of their life and in order to interpret them one
needs a deep knowledge of Bushman life and their beliefs.
